So named because it was a favorite campsite of President Teddy Roosevelt, this lodge retains the rustic charm of another era. Roosevelt Corral offers horseback riding during the summer and stagecoach rides for families through rolling sagebrush-covered hills. Roosevelt also serves as the departure point for the Old West Cookout, a steak dinner cookout via wagons or horses through the mountains to historic Yancey's Hole, located two miles away.
Season: Early June through early September.
Accommodations: There are a limited number of rustic cabins— most are "Rough Riders," with woodburning stoves and no bathrooms, or rustic shelters, which are the least expensive in the park. Rustic shelters have no bathrooms or running water. (There is a central bathhouse, although no linens or towels are provided.) There is wood heat. Frontier cabins have electric heat and full baths. The main lodge has a giant fireplace at each end and a cozy atmosphere.
Special Features: Horseback riding (one- and two-hour rides) and stagecoach rides June to August; Old West Cookout $17 to $41 per person depending on mode of transportation and age of child. Children under five ride free.
