Built in 1922, the ranch is at the bottom of the Canyon's inner gorge and is accessible only on foot, by mule, or by raft. Most of its cabins and dormitory rooms are reserved by mule riders spending the night, but a few can be reserved by hikers.
Season: Year-round.
Accommodations: The ranch has rustic cabins, made of wood and uncut river boulders, and a main lodge. Each cabin has from four to ten bunk beds, a sink, and toilet. Dormitories are segregated by sex; each has ten bunk beds, a shower, and a restroom. Bedding, soap, and towels are provided in the cabins and dormitories.
Special Features: Meals, served in the Beer Hall, must be reserved in advance. There is also a canteen with snacks and supplies. Bring your own pole and reel for good trout fishing at Bright Angel Creek and the Colorado River; tackle and supplies are available.
Spots, activities and attractions: Swimming in Bright Angel Creek and many day hikes.
