This national historic landmark, which has attracted returning families for decades, has unbeatable views of Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain. All accommodations are in cabins located in the pines above the main lodge. The national park's hiking trails surround the resort.
Season: June through September.
Accommodations: Cabins have modern conveniences yet are rustic
in design. Aspen and Pine Cabins each sleep up to six people and have
two rooms, a fully equipped kitchenette, gas heat, full bath, bedroom
with bunk and double bed, and a queen-size bed in the living room.
Larger parties can choose the Ford Cabin, which sleeps up to eight people or the Elk Lodge which sleeps up to fourteen No televisions or
telephones in cabins.
Special Features: Heated pool, playground, picnic areas with grills,
riding stables, volleyball, horseshoes, recreation room with games, Ping-Pong, pool table, and laundry facilities. The lodge lobby has musical entertainment, a circular fireplace, a restaurant, and a veranda with swings and food service.
Spots, activities and attractions: Lake and stream fishing, boating, golf, tennis, horseback riding, water sports, and white water rafting are all available close by. During the summer there is a children's day camp in Grand Lake, and August brings rubber duckie races, a reptilian ball, turtle races, and a festival of the arts.
